On a typical day in Australia, every day:
  • 220 people will be diagnosed with cancer
  • There are 132 major coronary events, of which half are fatal
  • 47 people will undergo coronary artery
    by-pass surgery
  • 53 people will undergo coronary artery angioplasty procedures
  • 34 people under the age of 65 will have their first stroke
  • One in three men will suffer from cancer in their lifetime.
  • One in four women will suffer from cancer in their lifetime.
  • Stroke is the leading cause of long term disability in adults each year. Around 40,000 Australians will have a stroke, for 70% it will be their first.
  • Every working Australian has a one in three chance of becoming disabled for more than three months before turning age 65.
  • 67% of Australians have either no or minimal IP cover*
  • 50% of 25-49 year olds with a mortgage have no IP cover*
  • Only 22% of Australians have Life Insurance*
